Idea Napkin No. 1 - 11A

1) You. 

My name is Amanda Cascardo as you probably already know. My major is general business, with a focus on international business and trade. I’m passionate about travelling and learning more about foreign countries and customs. If I were to start this business I would want to make sure all parents have access to this device. I would actually partner with my mother, because she is very business savvy. I would want to see it in retail stores and online. I would especially want to get this product overseas, because there are so many other people that could use this product. This company would be my main focus.

2) What are you offering to customers? 

I am offering a product to parents, caregivers, and even pet owners. It is a sensor device that will send a notification to your mobile device to alert you if the vehicle is off and the sensor detects a child still in the vehicle. This sensor device will monitor the vehicles temperature and in worst case scenarios notify the local fire department if the notification is not dismissed.
This product will solve the unmet need of prevention of heatstroke in children. Over half the reported cases of child death due to heatstroke, the child was forgotten in the vehicle. This device will assist the busy parents and help them have peace of mind when they enter their vehicles.

3) Who are you offering it to? 

The demographic of my customers is mainly parents. Parents that live in warmer climates. Parents and caregivers that have children under the age of 14. Parents and caregivers that are busy.

4) Why do they care? 

I believe customers would actually purchase this product because it provides a sense of peace. It allows them to not worry constantly and is an extra safety measure. I believe parents and caregivers would pay any amount of money just to make sure their child is safe at all times.

5) What are your core competencies? 

Well, I don’t see any solutions for this need on the market. I don’t see any other devices that have the same function as my potential product. I think safety is such a big concern with car manufacturers as well as parents that there will be a great response to my product.

I believe all the elements for this business idea fit together nicely. There is such a large demographic of parents and during my interviews, all parents main concern was safety of their child. I think the only weak element would be the actual design and engineering of the device. That would require an expert and a developer to make sure everything syncs and works properly.
