Final Reflection – 30A
I
remember the first time I felt dread about doing an assignment, was with the
fourth assignment, Forming an Opportunity Belief. It was difficult for me to
think of an idea and then find people to interview. I wasn’t yet comfortable
approaching and interviewing people.
I
think my first elevator pitch is definitely the experience I will remember for
years. I was so nervous because I hate talking to a camera and I can get shy
and quiet. I think I’m most proud of my elevator pitch because of those reasons.
After doing it three times, I still get nervous but not as much.
My
most joyous experience was working on the assignment, ‘What’s Your Secret
Sauce?’. It was nice to be able to hear what my closest family and friends
think of me, that doesn’t happen often.
I
can’t see myself as an entrepreneur right now since I haven’t actually started
any business concept but I do have the mindset already. I find myself always
questioning target markets and potential customers when thinking of businesses
and new products.
My
recommendation for student’s taking this course is to give it your best, if you
just skim by each assignment and do the minimum, you won’t enjoy yourself or
benefit from the course. In order to perform your best, start early on each
assignment. Maybe contact other students in the class so you can have a friend
going through the same thing, someone you can bounce off ideas from. To foster
the entrepreneur mindset, like I said earlier, give each assignment your best
and really imagine each assignment is a task from a potential investor or
customer that wants to know more about your business.
Amanda,
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I actually felt the same way whenI started this course: I was nervous to interview people. I'm used to interviewing though because I'm a journalism major but it was something about the type of questions we're required to ask for assignments that I think made me nervous. I honestly was terrified of the elevator pitch because I was nervous about what other people would think when they watched it, it certainly drew me out of my comfort zone. Overall, I agree with your advice for future students; if you do the bare minimum you won't gain anything from the course and you're only hurting yourself.
I enjoyed reading your blog this semester! I unfortunately missed the first elevator pitch so I had to do it later on, and videoing myself was pretty nerve wracking. I have no problem giving presentations, but am camera shy when presenting to a camera. It forces one to do our best so we do not have to do it over and over again ! Giving a minimum effort will make other students not read your blog. Making it interesting and expressing one's ideas is what made this class fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when having the right mindset. This class has provided me with a guide to pursueing my business career and making me want to give my best.
